The Best Intro Quality Espresso Machine - The Gaggia Classic

If there is an espresso machine that is a perennial favorite, and a real workhorse, it would have to be the Gaggia Classic. This is one of Gaggia's all-time best selling models, and they just keep making it better. For the modest price of this machine, and the quality of espresso that it is capable of making, this espresso maker deserves 5 stars and a standing ovation.

If you're looking to get your first "real" home espresso machine, this would be the entry level machine to get. The Gaggia Classic is a "semi-automatic espresso machine". With this class of espresso machine you have control over dosing, tamping, and timing. If the coffee was ground properly and the grounds were tamped with the right amount of pressure, the brew time should be around 28 seconds. The brewing process starts with the simple flip of a switch and then you choose to end the extraction by turning the switch in the opposite direction. If Hopefully, they should produce a heavenly delicious coffee with a thick golden cream. Do not feel bad if your first several attempts to get a coffee at least impressed. You finally get the hang of it, and when it will be perfect espresso drinks.

A notable feature of the classic is the support group and beer in this team are impressively large and well made, and are almost as strong as those of largecommercial machines that cost multiple-thousands of dollars. The beefy chrome plated brass filter holder helps keep the temperature stable during the brewing process.

This is a very well designed and well built machine, does a great job of making espresso drinks, and is a pleasure to use. It's built like a tank with very sturdy stainless steel construction. The toggle switches are easy to use and the reservoir is easy to fill. It features a 3-way solenoid valve like those found on commercial machines, has a very efficient and fast boiler, a large water compartment, and a powerful pump, able to produce up to 15 bars of pressure. It feels and acts industrial grade, but still looks great in the kitchen. It's easy to set up, easy to use, and easy to clean. It makes espresso shots which are aromatic and full of créma every time. The frother is decent, although it does get some complaints.

You will love that the Gaggia Classic delivers deeply satisfying espresso with rich créma every time. The Gaggia Classic delivers as good or better than those more expensive manual lever and piston machines, or even the super automatic machines. And this machine does this flawlessly.

Pay careful attention to the instructions which correctly emphasize the importance of getting the right grind and using proper tamping technique for making a superior espresso drink. What it eventually comes down to is that you have to master all the variables in using this machine -- dosing, tamping, and timing. When you do it will deliver an espresso drink that is every bit as good as what you will pay $5 at Starbucks.

There are quite a number of semi-automatic machines in the same price range as the Gaggia Classic, but in the final analysis, you will not find another machine at this price that offers the simple lines, the well-built sturdiness, the ease of operation, and the quality of the espresso that the Classic does. And, as a bonus, the machine should last forever.

There is no more satisfying way to begin your day than by enjoying a rich, creamy latte or cappuccino that you made yourself. Treat yourself to a Gaggia Classic.
