Are you an espresso junkie? Do you have an espresso coffee machine in your home? The coffee industry is rife with hundreds of coffee recipes and coffee concoctions and many of them are European in nature from places like Italy and France. If you love espresso as much as I do then you are most likely fully immersed in the gourmet aspects of coffee as a wine enthusiast would be immersed in the gourmet aspects of wine.
Are you familiar with the different types of espresso drinks? How many espresso drinks do you know off the top of your head? Here are seven different types of espresso coffee drinks that you may or may not already know. If you are familiar with any or all of them, then you are far ahead of the average coffee drinking Joe. If you are not familiar with these espresso recipes I hope you decide to make and enjoy them. If you decide to make some of them do it early in the day instead of when you get home from work or you might not get any sleep that night!
7 Espresso Coffee Machine Recipes
1. Caffe Freddo: This is espresso that is chilled in a glass with or without ice depending where you are at the time. This is just a hi octane iced coffee it can be made shaken or stirred and then strained if you want no ice of iced.
2. Caffe Lungo: Refers to an Americano but brewed with more water going through the shot of espresso rather than diluting the espresso after it is brewed as with the Caffe Americano.
3. Caffe Medici: This is an doppio espresso that is poured over chocolate syrup with orange and in some cases lemon peel. Often it is topped with whipped cream. This is a delicious alternative to straight espresso and is even good chilled!
4. Caffe Ristretto: A more concentrated version of regular espresso as this drink is made with the same amount of coffee as a standard espresso shot (1 1/2 oz), with less water that makes it more concentrated.
5. Cake in a Cup: This is an espresso that is made with double the amount of crema and double the amount of sugar. (I like to think this is akin to a Cuban Espresso) In many places this is ordered as a "double double."
6. Doppio: The ultra cool, modern, hiphop way to ask for a double espresso.
7. Caffe Corretto: This is an espresso that means "corrected" by adding cognac or armanac or some "other" liqueur of choice. It is also referred to as "espresso correctto" in some places. This is regional. This type of espresso is my personal favorite! I know that after about five of these babies I can honestly say that "I stand corrected!"
