How to Keep Your Coffee Machine Clean

Have you ever thought how to keep your coffee machine clean? Why should you do it and what should you do? It is likely that, if you have purchased a coffee maker, that you have made a significant investment. You need to keep it in good shape and state of repair if it is going to give you years of faultless service.

A drip coffee maker needs frequent cleaning. If you don't, the coffee it produces can deteriorate in flavor and content. A good cleaning routine will remove deposits, debris and build up of unwanted materials as well as removing lime scale and other impurities.

You can clean with warm water but some people advocate the use of a mixture of vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:2. This can help dissolve hard water deposits. The mixture goes into your water reservoir and filters through the system - remember to rinse afterwards otherwise your coffee will taste of vinegar!

The mixture will clean the system especially when it is heated by the machine. let your machine cool and begin to rinse thoroughly. You may need to repeat this process - either using the water and vinegar mixture again or re-rinsing your machine. Take your time to do it properly.

Some people omit to look after their coffee maker. This is false economy. yes, it takes time and effort but it does not need to be done very often - once a month is appropriate. The cleaning process will lengthen the useful life of your machine and ensure that you have good tasting coffee every time.
