Choosing a Pod Coffee Maker

When you're in the market for a pod coffee maker, there are many different considerations to think about before making a decision. Of course, there are also many different models to choose from. Therefore it's important to have a good idea of what to expect, and how you should go about narrowing down the selection and making a purchase.

First of all, there are several big brands that are dominating the market for pod coffee these days. They aren't the only options available, but they certainly are by far and away the most popular. Not coincidentally, they are also the highest rated of everything that's available today.

The first major brand is the Keurig coffee maker. There are about a half dozen different Keurig coffee models, and they will vary in terms of how much they cost, what their water tank capacity is, the variation they have in terms of coffee sizes and more.

The second major brand will be the collection of Tassimo coffee makers. There is a smaller selection of Tassimo coffee models, so each model is more similar to each other besides basic style and appearance considerations.

The quality between Keurig and Tassimo coffee makers are pretty similar. They are both very easy and convenient to use, and they both make a great cup of coffee. However, there are important differences between them that will help shed light on your search.

The first factor you'll want to think about will be the price of your pod coffee model. Keurig, with a more diverse selection of models, typically has cheaper options available. However, the upper end Keurig models will be on par with the price of Tassimo coffee units, and maybe even slightly more expensive.

The second factor you'll want to think about will be the kinds of pod coffee will be available to you. Keurig has arrangements with over a dozen major coffee producers and companies to produce K cups for their machines. This means you can get coffee from some of your favorite brands. This includes companies like Green Mountain, Timothy's World Coffee, Diedrich Coffee Roasters, Newman's Own and many more.

Tassimo on the other hand has a smaller selection, but they have exclusive rights for Starbucks coffee pods. So if you're a big Starbucks fan then you'll want to opt for Tassimo, but for a larger collection a Keurig coffee maker will be a better choice.

These are just a few of the considerations to keep in mind when you're looking into making a purchase. As mentioned, there are many other brands producing a pod coffee maker today, these two just happen to be the most common and popular. Either one would make a great home or office coffee maker.
