Which Large Coffee Maker is Good?

Since the creation of this black beverage, the coffee maker has become an essential accessory in almost everyone home kitchen and can be seen in most offices, hotels, and other businesses.

This machine has evolved over the past years - from the vacuum pot to the dual function and the drip brewer, which is one of the most common types of brewers found in the household.

There now exists a wide range of brands and different types of brewers available to suite everyone needs. Specialty brewers have also been designed with particular features such as the Zojirushi coffee maker which is specifically designed to keep coffee hot and the Cuisinart machine which is known for its famous Cuisinart charcoal water filter built in their machines.

For offices, catering services, and cafe, a large coffee maker is the preferred type of machine to use instead of the average or standard size ones.

A large brewer such as a coffee urn offers many advantages over your ordinary ones, the most important of which is that it provides more numerous cups of coffee.

Several urns are available in the market, some popular examples are the Delonghi Coffee Urn DCU500T, Westbend Commercial Urn 33600, and the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065.

The Delonghi Coffee Urn DCU500T and the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065 share many similar features. Both urns have on and ready light indicators to indicate when your coffee is brewing and when it is ready to serve.

Their exteriors are made of stainless steel to give you years of reliable service and they also share similar "cool touch" handles that are heat resistant so you would not scorch your fingers while handling the urns.

The two urns also have a warming feature - the Hamilton Urn has a keep warm feature to maintain temperature while the Delonghi Urn automatically switches to the warming cycle as soon as the brewing cycle is over.

Unlike the Hamilton, this Urn has a freshness indicator with increments of 20 minutes up to an hour to tell the user how long the drink has been kept warm, and it can be kept hot and fresh for up to 6 hours.

On the other hand, the Hamilton has the cup-a-minute feature with a faster brewing speed so you can have your coffee without the wait.

The Delonghi Urn also has a level indicator to tell how much coffee is left and to warn the user if it is running low while the Hamilton Urn has a water/ coffee window for easy filling and to show you when the level is low.

This brewer has a drip tray for fast and easy cleanup whereas the Hamilton is dishwasher safe for your cleaning convenience.

This DCU500T has a maximum capacity of 50 cups while the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065 has a 60 cup capacity.

Another large machine to consider is the Westbend Commercial Urn 33600. The Urn is ideal for a larger number of guests as it can serve up to 100 cups of coffee and is UL listed for commercial use.

The Westbend shares similar features as the other two machines mentioned including heat resistant handles, coffee level gauge and water indicators.

It also shares the one-cup-a minute feature of the Hamilton. Unlike the Delonghi and the Hamilton, however, the Westbend Urn is made of highly polished aluminum, has a two way dripless faucet, and a twist lock cover.

So, which one is better? Personally, I would go for the bigger name, in this case, Delonghi. The reason being that for the bigger brands, you would have an easier time looking for servicing and spare parts.
