How To Maintain Your Coffee Machine

If you are a regular coffee drinker, it's likely that you have a coffee machine that you use. This might be the simple home models or a larger one that you use at work in the break room. Either way, these machines need to be maintained so that you will get better tasting coffee and have your coffee maker last much longer. Find out what you should do to maintain the machine as best as you can.

Be sure that you clean out he pot each time that you use it. You don't want any standing water that is left over after you use the machine. You also want to clean it all because of bacteria that may be left. People normally touch the rim of the coffee cup to the coffee pot meaning that there may be germs left over.

You also need to clean the filter holder. This doesn't mean just throwing away the coffee filter after use. It means that you take out the filter holder and clean that from time to time. Every few weeks, take it out and wash it with soap and water. Some use vinegar and water as well.

Dust out the outside of the coffee machine so that it looks nice. This isn't an issue of taste but it will help the coffee maker look more appealing.

Run a solution of water and vinegar through your coffee maker every few weeks. There will be a build up because of what is in the water. This will make your coffee over time taste differently if you don't clean it this way. If you have hard water, you should do this more often as there will be more to build up. You can filter the water out and prevent this problem a bit as well.

Wipe up all the spilled coffee on the machine. Over time this will make everything smell and taste a bit burned if you don't get it all up.
